A Wingless Bird

to say to you. A beggar
shows the king his palm;

tumbles, a wingless bird
before the swaying pines,
and waits--unmoving, breathless, mute.

  1. Surrender. The complete and total giving away. Something I find myself never doing. And I think the hardest thing about it is that it's a process, it's something to be practiced, done and redone, until one finally (if ever) learns how to first consistently recognize what's happening, then let go durning the countless times in our lives when we're tempted to grasp for some illusion of control.

    God, I have nothing to say to you. There are thousands of sentences in that one, and the lack of those is the best part.

    Thanks for this.
